20 weeks at the top of the hottest Christian songs – Billboard

Singer-songwriter Katy Nichole’s debut single “In Jesus Name (God of Possible)” expands her dominance at the top BillboardThe Hot Christian Songs ranking based on streaming, airplay and sales at a 20th week (on the list dated August 20).

The song rebounds to the top spot on the chart, having spent 19 consecutive weeks at No. 1 as of the March 26 tally. Nichole co-wrote it with Ethan Hulse, David Spencer and Jeff Pardo, the latter of whom also produced it solo.

“When we wrote and recorded ‘In Jesus Name’, my prayer was that the Lord would use this song to bring peace and hope to others,” says Nichole. Billboard. “I never could have imagined that God would use this song to reach and impact so many people. I am humbled and reminded, once again, of the greatness and power of God.

“Name” garnered 5.8 million radio audience impressions, 1.9 million official US streams (up 11%) and 1,000 downloads sold (up 21%) during the tracking week of August 5-11, according to Luminate. The track topped the Christian Digital Songs chart for a 25th week and jumped 7-3 on Christian Streaming Songs (where it reached No. 2). He ran Christian Airplay for nine weeks, starting in April.

Nichole records for Centricity Records, who she signed to in June 2021. The label credits her August 4 performance at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheater with helping spark the song’s latest earnings run as it takes home streaming honors. and the gain in sales of Hot Christian Songs. Following the show, which was sponsored by Christian radio station K-Love, a video of it, posted on August 8, of her performance of “Name” got more than 70,000 likes.

Nichole, 22, from Mesa, Arizona, first gained traction by posting videos on social media. She currently has nearly 450,000 TikTok followers. (Views on Instagram and TikTok do not currently contribute directly to Hot Christian Songs.)

“Name” is the first song released this decade to top the hot Christian songs for at least 20 weeks. Nichole’s Centricity labelmate Lauren Daigle’s multi-genre hit “You Say” is the longest hit in chart history: 132 weeks (July 2018-August 2021).

Only six songs have reigned for 20 weeks or more, dating back to the list’s inception in June 2003:

Notably, five of those six tracks feature female vocals. In addition to Daigle, Carrie Underwood and Nichole, Hillsong UNITED’s Taya Smith is the lead vocalist on “Oceans” and Hillsong Worship’s Brooke Ligertwood sings lead vocals on “Beautiful.”

Meanwhile, Nichole’s second single, “God Is the Story,” featuring Big Daddy Weave, pushes Hot Christian Songs 14-12 to a new high. It also climbed to a new No. 12 on Christian Airplay (4 million impressions, up 15%).
