MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – The Lake Superior Christian Church in Marquette is opening the doors to its brand new daycare and preschool facility for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
“We will have a total of 88 places for this age group and we will be able to do full-time, part-time and all kinds of different schedules to meet the needs of parents,” Stephanie Rohder, director of The Center of learning, said.
Each room will be equipped with everything the children will need throughout the day, such as food, formula, diapers, wipes, bedding, etc., including learning experiences adapted to their age.
“We’re going to use a program called ‘HighScope’ which is a really good, comprehensive learning program that really focuses on the social, physical and academic aspects of every growing child we have.”
Currently, the learning center is awaiting final licenses and inspections, but Rohder hopes to open in the next few months, and when it does, she said there will be opportunities for more than just children. .
“We work in partnership with Northern Michigan University and its Early Childhood Education department. We’re really open to all sorts of ways this will work – part-time jobs, internships – whatever they need to be able to improve in their craft.
The center will be holding an employment open house on Tuesday, April 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. For more information on employment or enrollment, visit The Learning Center’s website here and check out its Facebook.
