Fritz Hager was unable to make it to the “American Idol” stage as scheduled on Sunday after contracting COVID-19, but he still managed to wow the judges.

Hager sang an epic performance of an original song “All My Friends”. The show aired a rehearsal before Hager made a video call to the show.

After checking in on how the singer was feeling, Luke Bryan said, “Thank goodness we videotaped the rehearsal. Just so you switch so much from acoustic guitar to electric guitar and have that rock star moment. It seemed [and] sounded amazing.

“You just had all the tools. You have the creativity to go far.

Hager then surprised her mother with a song about her family, dedicated to her grandmother, called “The Ocean” for Mother’s Day.

Bryan gushed: “Again Fritz, just your guitar playing and the emotion that you’re capable of… you’re fair, you look like a pro, you talk like a pro. Simply amazing performance.
