The snare track is easily the most notorious thing about Holy Wrath, the most famous album in the Metallica catalogue. A YouTuber dared to ask, “What if the ‘St. Anger’s snare drum sound featured on some of Metallica’s greatest songs? Thanks to him, now we know.

YouTuber PolarWhale shared the video below featuring this very nasty, resonant snare drum on “Master of Puppets”, “Creeping Death”, “One”, and “Enter Sandman”. Yes, it’s as boring as expected.

Metallica is well aware of the subject matter sensitivity of Holy Wrath is one of their fans. Recently, a few videos have surfaced from some of Metallica’s recent shows that made fun of the album. The first clip below shows the band packing “Frantic” with Hetfield then saying, “This is from your favorite album ‘St. Anger’! Come on! It’s growing in you now. He then points to someone near the stage and says, “Just give it a little more time, mate. You will get it. Alright, eight more songs from ‘St. Anger.’ You are ready ? I laugh.”

The second clip shows Papa Het doing a cheer/boo poll on Holy Wrath before launching into “Dirty Window” from the album.

On the album’s 19th anniversary last June, the band shared the artwork on their social media with the caption, “Everyone’s favorite album, ‘St. Anger’ came out 19 years ago #OnThisDay in 2003! Dare we ask you what is your favorite song on the album?

Believe it or not, the album was defended by many fans in the comments. One fan wrote: “Unpopular opinion, this puts me in a fight with EVERYONE in my family and group of friends.
