Katy Nichole, Big Daddy Weave Top Hottest Christian Songs – Billboard

Katy Nichole and Big Daddy Weave’s “God Is in This Story” tops Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart based on streaming, airplay and sales (dated Oct. 15).

The coronation marks the second for Nichole, 22, since the start of her career and the third for Big Daddy Weave, and her first in almost a decade.

The song, which Nichole co-wrote with Ethan Hulse and Jeff Pardo and is part of her upcoming feature debut, gained 13% to 6.8 million stream impressions, according to Luminate, and ranks No. rank on Christian Airplay. It also attracted 1.2 million official streams and sold 1,000 downloads in the United States during the tracking week.

“It was one of the greatest blessings to see God use this song to reach so many people,” Nichole told Billboard. “To say I am grateful would be an understatement to express how I feel. I am so honored to carry this message. When I wrote the song, I knew it wasn’t just my story, it was everyone’s story.

“We’re so grateful for how ‘Story’ was received, and equally grateful for how it spoke to us during one of the most difficult times of our lives,” said Big Frontman Mike Weaver. Daddy Weave. “Thanks to Katy inviting us to record this song together, shortly after my brother Jay passed away earlier this year, God used it to remind us that he is with us through the pain and how much this is precious.”

Jay Weaver, who was the band’s bassist, died in January from health complications from COVID-19. He was 42 years old.

For Nichole, who records for Centricity Music, “Story” marks her second No. 1 Hot Christian Songs in as many tries. “In Jesus Name (God of Possible)” ran for 20 weeks from March, the longest run so far this decade.

Nichole is the second woman to top Hot Christian Songs with her first two appearances since the charts debuted in 2003. Brooke Simpson first achieved the feat in 2017-18 when ‘Amazing Grace’ debuted at the top and led for a week, followed by “O Holy Night”, which did the same two weeks later, sparked by its run on the 13th season of NBC’s The Voice, when it finished at number three square.

Big Daddy Weave topped Hot Christian Songs for the first time since “Redeemed” topped for seven frames from November 2012. The act’s first No. 1, among 18 top 10s, “Every Time I Breathe” , ruled for four weeks from June. 2007.
