It’s like the old adage: something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.
When you book your wedding in Langley Oaks at the First Christian Church of Pensacola, you can have all four.
Langley Oaks at First Christian Church of Pensacola, located at 6031 Goodrich Drive, is Pensacola’s newest wedding venue. Named after the ancient oak trees that dot its landscape, Langley Oaks at First Christian Church in Pensacola hopes to attract young people, as well as couples who want an outdoor ceremony.
“We noticed that wedding prices were getting out of reach for many couples. Many young couples wanted a traditional church wedding, but didn’t have a home church,” said Martha Heckman, president and project manager of the First Christian Church of Pensacola. “We felt we could provide a service to the community by using our facilities and grounds to serve as a wedding venue.”
Heckman, who has been a member of the First Christian Church of Pensacola since 1957, has been actively involved in property improvements and publicizing what the whole church has to offer.
“Martha has a big vision for the future,” said Louise Baker, worship leader for the First Christian Church of Pensacola. “I learned a long time ago that when she has a vision, it should be supported. She has transformed this church.”

The shrine itself can accommodate up to 130 people, while the reception hall and outdoor memorial garden can accommodate up to 75 people. If you want to have a band or a wedding DJ at your reception, the space also has a dance floor and a sound system. Although wax candles are not permitted in the shrine, oil candles may be used.
“We can also provide tablecloths and linens,” Heckman said. “We have the choice between red, white, champagne and navy blue.”
In addition to the hall space, other amenities also include a commercial-size kitchen for food preparation and serving, a comfortable bridal suite, and a bedroom for the groom and groomsmen. The bridal suite, adorned in white, gray and neutral colors, also offers an adjacent bathroom and closet for the bridal party to prepare for the ceremony.
“We’re not wedding planners,” Heckman said. “We are just the venue, that’s all we are. Since we own all the facilities and the property, we can provide a venue at a lower cost with just as much elegance and formality as the couple wants. “
But that doesn’t mean you’ll be completely on your own through the process. Upon initial contact, a representative will be able to provide tours of the property and answer any questions you may have. Once the date has been set, a 30% deposit is required for the reservation.
“We wanted someone to get married on February 2, 2022 or 2-2-22,” Heckman said. “But that particular date falls on a Wednesday.”
If you weren’t lucky enough to attend their sweet open house last month, you can visit their booth at the upcoming Beautiful Beginnings Bridal Show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on January 9 at the Pensacola Bay Center.
