Walker Hayes continues to offer new music with “Drinking Songs” through Monument Records. The song is the last single from his upcoming and highly anticipated Country Stuff The Album, due January 21.

Joining previous releases including her current single “AA”, “U Gurl” and her No. 1 debut song “Fancy Like”, “Drinking Songs” features Hayes’ witty lyrics, sticky melodies and intrigue. autobiographical. Written by Hayes with Jordan Gray and produced by “Fancy Like” collaborator Joe Thibodeau and Multi-GRAMMY award winner Shane McAnally, the new track finds Hayes paradoxically declaring his love of drinking songs while proudly sober ever since. six years old – he may have quit drinking, yet he can’t quite let go of country music’s long-standing devotion to songs about them.

“’Drinking Songs’ is one of my favorites from the new album,” Hayes shares. “I don’t drink anymore, but I still connect with how a song can help you, just like a drink can for some people. We’ve all been in a bar full of people singing together, hugging each other. Plus the lyrics and the beat just have a quality that feels so country to me. “

In homage to the traditions that Hank Williams Jr. has long sung on, “Drinking Songs” calls on Bocephus for advice.

Hayes will kick off her headlining tour, The Fancy Like Tour, in Grand Rapids, MI on January 27.

Hayes is having a busy 2022 as he writes his next book, Glad You’re Here. Hayes writes the book with his friend and longtime collaborator Craig Cooper, in which the title is inspired by his song “Craig”.

Music Mayhem reports that the book will be published by the nonprofit Moody Publishing, which publishes Christian books. The book will explore the dear friendship between Hayes and Cooper, much like the track, but now fans will have more stories from their first meeting until they become neighbors.

Hayes will also share details about his spirituality, his previous battle with alcoholism, and the struggles he and his wife have faced in recent years, including the loss of their seventh child.
